Sanitation & Recycling

The City of Pilot Grove contracts with the outside waste management company RTS for solid waste collection. Everyone within the community is required to have garbage collection. Residential customers have access to  recycling at the City's recycling center.

Trash pick up for the City is every Thursday. Residents are responsible for their own containers and are limited to no more than Three 65 gallon or smaller sized bins or 5 large closable trash bags per week. RTS may decline to collect any waste which is not properly contained or placed at the curbside for collection or which contains any waste which the contractor has not agreed with.

Please do not place trash bins curbside earlier than 6:00 pm the day before collection and remove bins from the curb by 8:00 pm the day of collection.

RTS observes the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day. If these holidays should fall on or before the regular Thursday pick up, trash will be picked up on Friday, the day after regular pick up.
